When we had finished our work about Charlotte Anne, we researched about the 1870 life reflection.  My group and I did the first rugby match in New Zealand and way back then they put 18 players on each team. The first rugby match game started on Saturday, May 14th, 1870. The team that battled each other is Nelson college and Nelson Foot ball club. In my group is Fraidoon, Miki and Ofa.

Leap Of Faith - Narrative

Leap Of Faith

The sun had setted and then out came the moon, it shines over me and my friends. All around us it began to get darker and darker as I imagined in my mind what it would be like to be enjoying the night flying. Tonight I was going to fly for the first time, I felt very nervous. I was afraid to take my leap of faith.

A strong gust of wind blew behind me, then I started to shake a lot. That's when I told myself that I was scared to fly for the first time. I felt more nervous than before. I just wanted to get rid of this feeling, so I put one leg up and then a gust of wind blew at me slowly. My talons were shaking and that's when I was starting to freak out. I knew I had to be brave so I told myself that I can do it. I held my breath and leapt off the edge of the branch, and dived into the blank sky. “I did it I can fly now, I am not afraid to do this anymore”.

The wind picked me up, then I spread out my wings like an angel. I felt the icy air on my feathers, it reminded me that I needed to control my wings. So I started flapping them to get the icy air off my feathers. I couldn't believe what I was doing, for the first time I started to control my wings to be able to fly. I was so amazed at what I did. So I set out looking for my favourite snack.

This term we have been learning how to write narratives. I have written a narrative called the Leap Of Faith. By doing this, it helped me put in more powerful words in my narrative. I really enjoyed this activity because it helped me improve my skills at writing narratives. Next time I want to make sure I add more information in my narrative.

This is why we need a skeletal systems

Today for inquiry we created a Gif about the skeletal systems. We used EzGif to to create this Gif. We used Play-Doh and toothpick to create a human figure to show you what it looks like without bones and with bones. The toothpick stands for the "skeleton" on the human clay. We learnt that there are 300 bones for new born and 206 for adults. The  reason why we created this Gif was to show you why we need the skeletal system and how important they are.

Read Theory progressing

Today for reading we looked at our chart to see if we are progressing well on reading. It is hard to do read theory because some words I do not know. My goal is to get past Grade 3 but I'm trying hard to achieve Grade 3 to 4. My chart is good but I know I can be better at reading, I can get my chart to a good stage for me.

The part that I am up to is the work book to finish the half work, it will ask some question and you answer it and another question like how did it turn out or why we were not allowed other metal. It was hard to answer the question because some of the questions I didn't know.

Kiwi Sport

Today for Kiwi sport we did ripper rugby at first group B went to ripper rugby. We played a rugby-netball game, one side had bibs and the other didn't and we couldn't run when we got the ball. After we were done we lined up in three lines and together we needed to pass the rugby ball down the line and as fast as we could. It started raining during the games. So we moved into the hall where it was nice and dry.  We were still in our three groups, we played a game of Rugby-Netball and Touch-Rugby but this time we could run with the ball. You can get out by only being stopped by a person in the opposition if you were touched with both hands at the same time.

Kiwi Can

Today at Kiwi Can we were learning about Integrity. Our topic for this term is making good choices and making bad choices. First we talked about making good choices and bad choices. After that we did an energizer call clap let me explain, when Ms Lily crossed her arms we were to clap, if Mr Lily nearly crossed her arm then we don't clap and if we clap then lost. When we were done we talk little more about making good choices and bad choices. After when we were done we played a game about hand soccer for our activity.
It was fun at kiwi can because we get to play fun games and learnt about Making good choices and bad choices.

Poetry Juxtaposition

In the summer I’m aroused to a snug and friendly breeze, all the pollen in the air always makes me sneeze. After clambering into my uniform and leaving for school,
I wait for friends by a wall of hedges, relishing the blue and inviting sun.

In the winter I sullenly rise from my bed, chilled to the bone from the despairful air. After painfully getting into my uniform and slowly leaving the door, I sprint to school just to keep myself warm.

This week's task for poetry was to first read a poem and then answer some questions and create some word clines, for the word clines we first needed to choose a word and then find all of the necessary synonyms for it. After that the task was to draw a line on some paper and then write down the synonyms that we'd written down onto the line in order from top to bottom depending on how important we found that one synonym.

The Story Of Hineahuone

This week for Inquiry we used Storyboard That to tell the story of Hineahuone. This story is a traditional Maori story and tells how Tane Mahuta made a woman out of the red clay. He made her so she could make a lot of children to enjoy the earth he and his brothers had created. It was really hard to do the Storyboard That by myself because I needed to think carefully about what the main ideas were so that my pictures told the story.

Memorial

For reading our class read Memorial by Shaun Tan. It started of with a kid telling a story about their family memories, memorials and remembrance about the unknown soldier. He talks about his Great-Grandad planting a tree when he comes back home from war at WW1, his Dad at Vietnam and his grandfather in world war 2. It also talks about the kid defending the tree because people are complaining about it and the statue is tilted.
